PHASE SEPARATED POLYURETHANES WITH PENDANT MESOGENIC UNITS

ABSTRACT

Polyurethanes containing polytetramethylene oxide soft segments and hard segments with azobenzene mesogenic groups were synthesized. Their thermal transitions were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, while the dissociation of H-bonds with temperature was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns at room temperature were also carried out.
