Abstract

Boron phosphate, BPO4, was synthesised from the equimolar mixture of H3PO4 and H3BO3 at temperatures from 25 to 1200 °C. IR spectra, X-ray diffraction pattern, thermal analysis and chemical analysis of boron and phosphorus show that the synthesis occurs already at the room temperature and that the crystallisation is a gradual process. The molar ratio of boron and phosphorous remains at 1:1 independently of the temperature of synthesis.
