Abstract

Monte carlo and integral equation results in the hypernetted - chain approximation are presented for the classical two - dimensional Coulomb fluid above the criticakl temperature for the Kosterliz -Thouless transition. The equilibrium structure and thermodynamics were studied as a function of the concentration of the fluid. the Monte carlo results were used to asses the accuracy of the corresponding predictions of the hypernetted - chain theory. Comparison of the pair distributin functions and thermodynamics shows that the theoretical results are in semiquantitative or better agreement with the simulations.
