Abstract
The "mean degree of vertices" indices tested here form a group of summation-derived indices of the BIM-type. One of them is the famous Randię index c. They are good indices for indexing the influence of the increase of the size of molecule, but less good as branching indices. The Randię index c (ŗ RGS(-„)) is one of the best of them. Better than it are in many cases other indices RGS, although the difference is not great in all instances. True but degenerated branching indices are the indices AS(-„), GS(0), LnS(0), ZgS(0), RAS(0), RGS(0), RLnS(0), and RZgS(0).
