Abstract
As a result of experimental studies on the dealkylation of tetra-O-propyl-p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene 1, we have found that by treating 1 with the stoichiometric amount of AlCl3, the tri, di and mono-O-propyl-p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene are obtained in good yield. In these reactions tert-butyl groups at the upper rim are uchanged.
