Abstract

The formation of a RuII-xylenol orange (XO) complex has been investigated. The respective complex was formed within the pH range of 2.5 to 5.0 during 90 min of heating and has an absorbance maximum at 583 nm. The molar extinction coefficient is 28800 L mol-1 cm-1. The composition of the RuII-XO complex was determined by the mole ratio and continuous variations methods. The structure of RuII-XO was proposed according to IR spectroscopic data.
