Mild and Convenient Method for Aromatization of Hantzsch Esters of 1,4-Dihydropyridines with Ag₂O

Abstract
Hantzsch esters of 1,4-dihydropyridines were readily aromatized to their corresponding pyridine compounds by Ag₂O
in quantitative yields. The reactions were carried out in refluxing CH₃CN within 0.9–4.5 h.
